Juventus just named its former captain Ciro Ferrara as its new head coach. Ferrara, the 42-year old native of Naples, was the caretaker coach for the last two games of the Serie A season and managed to salvage a 2nd place finish for La Vecchia Signora. The ex-Napoli & Juventus defender has over 570+ games of Serie A playing experience and after retiring in 2005 was a part of the '06 World Cup Champion Azzurri staff. During his playing career, Ciro Ferrara won every trophy a Serie A footballer could win. Ferrara is much like Barca's Pep Guardiola in that he was in charge of the youth program before becoming the head of the money making squad.
After his stint at Barcelona, Dutch legend Frank Rijkaard spent a year unemployed waiting for an opportunity. That opportunity has presented itself in one of the biggest clubs in Turkey. Galatasaray signed Rijkaard to a two year contract and hope he can help the club rebound from a 5th place finish in the 08-09 Turkish Super Lig. The Turkish super club will participate in the inaugural Europa League having qualified for 2nd qualifying round. Galatasaray is banking on Rijkaard's championship experience as a player and coach to lead them to domestic and European glory.
