Asics begins their second season with the Genovese side and not much changed and decided to implement the KISS theory as far as the upcoming season's kit. One could even say that the kit was a disappointment. The only significant difference that can be noticed in this new jersey is the collar. That to many makes the new first jersey have a sort of "Kappa" look to it. Other than that there was a slight change in the shades of color that were used. Very little excitement put into the entire presentation.
Sergio Floccari is wearing the new "naked" away jersey. Some people call it such as there is very little design in this jersey. Obviously last year's Eurobet sponsor is not on it, leading to the jersey having that naked look to it. Similar in look to the perennial Basel FC jersey in Swizerland, there design is fairl simple but still very empty. I personally think simplicity worked with this jersey and it is very nice.
If there was a jersey that underwent the greatest amount of change, it was this one. It was also the one that has receieved the most criticism. Asics changed last year's dark blue and white stripes for a jersey that is reminiscent of a more classical Argentina look . How ironic that they have their newest signing- Hernán Crespo in this psuedo-Albiceleste "knock off". At the rate things are going with Diego Maradona's side, could that be a foreshadowing of things to come? What is the concensus opinion with many websites is the awkwardness of the color scheme of the jersey along with the red and blue colors on the collar. The collar stands out like that little patch of hair in a mole. You somehow can't get your eyes off of it. No... that is not a good thing.
If first impressions would mean something, you could say that Genoa's goalkeeper jersey had a fight with an iron or that Rubinho slept with it. If anyone would have to give a grade on effort, Asics would get a D for this goalkeeper jersey. First... the color scheme. The collar with green doesn't work. Also the fabric makes the jersey seem very cheap.
There are times when designers want to slow down a bit and take a kit back in time a little bit and simplify things for whatever reason. In various ocassions, that approach does work. It does take fans back as a tribute and not melancholy for those days of old. In this particular instance, Asics shot themselves in the foot.
