On Friday, Guus Hiddink named his 23-man squad for Russia's final World Cup Qualifiers: October 10, hosting Germany (in Moscow) and October 14 in Azerbaijan.
If Russia came beat Germany in Moscow, they will almost certainly win UEFA's Group D (provided they can beat Azerbaijan). If they lose, the Azerbaijan match is meaningless, and they will head into UEFA's qualifying playoff.
Unlike Argentina, who have no stability in their call-ups, Russia's team was predictable, with one exception. First team center back Denis Kolodin (Dynamo Moscow) missed the last set of qualifiers with a leg injury. While it had been hoped that he would recover in time for October 10, Kolodin was not named to the team. In his place, Hiddink has recalled Lokomotiv midfielder Dmitry Torbinsky.
Here is the rest of Hiddink's team:
Goalkeepers: Igor Akinfeev (CSKA), Vyacheslav Malafeev (Zenit), Soslan Dzhanayev (Spartak Moscow)
Defenders: Sergei Ignashevich (CSKA), Alexsei Berezutskiy (CSKA), Vasili Berezutskiy (CSKA), Renat Yanbayev (Lokomotiv), Alexander Anyukov (Zenit), Yuri Zhirkov (Chelsea, England)
Midfielders: Igor Semshov (Zenit), Konstantin Zyryanov (Zenit), Vladimir Bystrov (Zenit), Igor Denisov (Zenit), Sergei Semak (Rubin), Alan Dzagoyev (CSKA), Diniyar Bilyaletdinov (Everton), Alexsei Rebko (FK Moskva), Dmitry Torbinsky (Lokomotiv)
Strikers: Andrey Arshavin (Arsenal, England), Roman Pavlyuchenko (Tottenham, England), Pavel Pogrebnyak (Stuttgart, Germany), Aleksandr Kerzhakov (Dinamo Moskva), Aleksandr Bukharov (Rubin)
