The day after Spain learned its competition in the group stage of 2010 World Cup, La Liga continued toward crowning the best club team in Spain. League leaders, Barcelona went to the West Coast and beat Deportivo La Coruña 3-1 at the Riazor. The 2009 Balon D'Or winner Lionel Messi scored twice and Ibrahimovic added his 10th of the season to keep Barca undefeated. Ibra has scored in Barca's last 3 matches as Blaugrana have moved 5 points ahead with one more game played.

Los Merengues bounced back from the Clasico loss to defeat Almeria at home 4-2. Real Madrid trailed 2-1 in the 2nd half before scoring 3 goals in 11 minutes to earn the 3 points. Goals by Gonzalo Higuaín, Karim Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo pleased the crowd at the Bernabeu and punctuated the comeback.

Racing crushed Espanyol 4-0 on the road in Espanyol's new stadium, Estadi Cornellá-El Prat. Racing scored all their goals in the 2nd half as Sergio Canales scored his 1st two goals of the season. The win ended a 9 game winless streak and a 4-game goal scoring drought. Espanyol's loss extended their winless streak to 6 games as well as their goal less streak to 4 games.

Villarreal continued their climb up the standings with their 3-2 win over Getafe. The Yellow Submarine claimed the 3 points despite being a goal down and a man down in the 2nd half.
