Barcelona and Real Madrid showed why they are the cream of the crop in La Liga. as they demolished the Racing and Villarreal respectively.

The champs got back in stride against a Racing Santander side that came out flat while the Blaugrana came out enraged. Andrés Iniesta opened the scoring for Barca in the seventh minute as he pounced on an Henrique deflection and hit the ball past Fabio Coltorti for his first goal since that historic strike at Stamford Bridge.

Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez scored off freekicks while yet another Barca youth player, Thiago, scored his first goal in the first division. Thiago, whose father was World Cup winner Mazinho.

Real Madrid wiped the floor with Villarreal but not without their usual share of complications. This is the beauty of Manuel Pellegrini's side- when they are in trouble they still can score three on you. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring off a rocket shot on a free kick. Kaká and Gonzalo Higuaín earned braces in the process and Xabi Alonso closed the scoring with a penalty kick.

Sevilla solidified their position in Champions League by ending Mallorca's incredible home unbeaten streak at the Ono Estadi.
