Important movement occurred at the top of FIFA monthly national team rankings. In this set of rankings only five matches were taken into account as the European and world leagues are in the final stretches
The Canarinha have once again taken the top spot of the Coca-Cola FIFA rankings and will find themselves in that position entering World Cup preparations. After five months at number two, Brazil jumped over European champions Spain. For the South Americans it is the seventh time in their history where they have found themselves a top this ranking since its inception back in 1993. They are also the national team that has been on top the most months-142.
Netherlands lost the stranglehold they had on third place since August as they were leapfrogged by Portugal. For the Lusitanians, this is the highest they have ever been in this ranking.
Another big mover in the top ten was Argentina as they went up two spots to seventh; England fell
Biggest movers: Slovenia went up seven spots to 23.
Biggest drop: Paraguay. After reaching 23rd place in the rankings in March, the Guaranís fell seven spots to 30.
