CFU Club Championships

Posted by Sheldon Scipio 4.15.2010

The CFU Club Championships last night brought wins for the Trinidad & Tobago Teams Joe Public FC and Clico San Juan Jabloteh.

In the first game of the fixtures Joe Public FC continued their winning ways as they cruised to an easy win over Walking Boys 5 to 0, with 2009 leading scorer Kerry Baptiste showing the way with 2 goals. Life at the back was easy for Abu bakr and company as W Boys rarely were able organise effective counter attacks. Coach King had to be pleased with this showing except for the wasted opportunities in the 2nd half where they were unable to convert numerous chances. If this is the form that JPFC keeps for the local Pro League it makes them favorites to keep the title which they presently hold as League Champions. Scorers Kerry Baptiste 2, Yu Hoshide1, Trent Noel 1, Andre Toussaint1.

In the 2nd game Jabloteh converted 2 blunders by the Alpha United defenders and Jason Marcano punished them putting the ball in the back of the net in the 28th and 66th minute. Otherwise this was an evenly contested encounter, with chances created at both ends. Quality was lacking in the final 3rd for both teams, which would have made this game a very interesting contest had there been better finishing. Terry Fenwick must improve on the sharpness in front of goal before the Pro League gets going to put up a fight for the 2010 title, something which we know he is able to accomplish.

Games in the CFU Club Championship continue at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar Arima on Sunday18th. April from 6pm.
