With the win, Tolima continue at the top spot in the Colombian standings. Medellín was only able to pick up a point at home against Once Caldas and are two points behind in second place although el DIM do have in game in hand.
History was also made this past weekend in the Cali derby and not just because Deportivo was able to knock off their arch rivals América, who are battling relegation. The Argentine naturalized Colombian, Sergio Galván Rey, became the all-time leading scorer in the history of Colombian soccer along with Ivan Valenciano after netting his 217th career goal.
