Its the 2nd week of the 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro and the high level of football is undeniable. Internacional of Porto Alegre defeated their 2nd straight Paulista opponent with their 2-0 victory at home against Palmeiras. Danny Morais scored early and Andres D'Alessandro scored in 2nd half injury time to secure the points & Internacional place atop the Brasileirão standings.

The other perfect team in the Brasileirão is Esporte Clube Vitória. The team from Bahia defeated Sport Recife 1-0 in their home opener. Neto Baiano scored the game winner to win the game and compound Sport's grief after the Recife side were eliminated from the Copa Libertadores earlier in the week.

Defending champions São Paulo had to get an 89th minute goal from André Lima to get as share of points against Atlético Paranaense. The 2-2 draw at the Morumbí against Furacão were Tricolor Paulista's 1st points of the season.

3-time FIFA Player of the Year Ronaldo made his Brasileirão debut for Corinthians in Week 2 but it made no difference as Timão played Botafogo in Rio to a 0-0 draw. Corinthians have yet to score a goal in the tournament.

Goiás was once again involved in a 6-goal thriller. Last week Goiás played Náutico to a 3-3 draw and this week Goiás played Santos to another 3-3 draw on the road at the Vila Belmiro. With Pelé in attendance Santos went up 3-1 with Rodrigo Souto's double almost ensuring the 3 points but Goiás fought back and defender Rafael Tolói scored in the 86th minute to finalize the 3-3 result and give Goiás & Santos a share of the points.
