Posted by Lucas Lugo 6.04.2010

This World Cup will have 34 players representing a country different from where they were born. The first case was reported in 1934, when the Argentine born Luis Monti represented Italy. During the FIFA congress in Stockholm on October 192, Italy was chosen to host the 1934 world cup. That squad had 5 international players: Monti, Guaita, Demaria and Orsi (Argentina) and Guarisi (Brazil). In 1930 Monti had represented Argentina, obtaining a 2nd place finish in the world cup.
