The US has accustomed us to the dramatic and once again their late-match heroics come through with a 1-0 win over Algeria. Landon Donovan came up big as he pounced on an Mbohmi rebound and came in just in the nick of time to put the ball in the back of the net.
With the win they came out on top of Group B; winning their group for the first time since 1930. That year they ended up in the semifinals before succumbing to Argentina 6-1.
Overall the US deserved their win and had more of an offensive proposal compared to the Desert Foxes who defended mostly in the second half. Even though the US tiled the field, the goals did not come and on one occasion they had a Clint Dempsey goal disallowed due to an non-existent offside.
Justice was served for the USA
