The FIU women's soccer team (0-2) put Arkansas keeper Britni Williams to work with seven shots on goal, but in the end it was the Razorbacks (1-0) who came out on top in a 1-0 decision on Sunday afternoon.
Though FIU keeper Melanie Raimo came up with nine saves in the game, Arkansas leading scorer Allie Chandler was able to connect for the Razorbacks' lone goal from a distance at the 30:52 mark.
The Panthers attacked in the second half with seven shots, though none were able to find their way into the net. Junior captain April Perry led the team in shots for the second consecutive game with four, all on goal.
"The team fought hard in both games this weekend and created quality opportunities," head coach Thomas Chestnutt said. "It was encouraging to see the strength of the team on the road against two strong opponents that were both playing their first games of the season."
Up next, the Panthers travel to Florida Gulf Coast for their first in-state match of the season on Thursday at 7 p.m.
