Bordeaux had to suffer in order to get past Greek side Olympiakos, but Marouane Chamakh saved the day for the French for the 2-1 win, 3-2 in the aggregate.

Laurent Blanc's side was able to come away with a win that put French football in good standing within Europe as they, along with Lyon advanced. This is the first time since 2004 that this occurs.

The home side was solid as usual, but things seemed to be in their favor when Yoann Gourcuff opened the scoring in the fifth minute.
