Rodada 7 of the 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro was an exciting week as goals flowed like Grey Goose at a South Beach nightclub. Every game except one had at least 3 goals scored as Brazil's reputation of high scoring matches was in full effect this weekend.

Atlético Mineiro continued its unbeaten start to the 2009 Brasileirão with a 3-2 road win versus Santos. Atlético blitzed Santos with 3 goals in 14 minutes in the 2nd half and held off the São Paulo side to capture the 3 points and stay in 1st place. Atlético have won 3 straight scoring 10 goals in that stretch.

2nd place Internacional suffered its 1st loss of the season at the hands of O Imperador as they were whipped 4-0 at the Maracanã. Adriano scored a hat-trick to end Flamengo's 2-game losing streak as the triple moved the ex-Inter Milan hitman to 3rd in the goal scoring table. The clean sheet was a welcome result for Brazil's most popular side as they had allowed 9 goals in the previous 2 matches.

Newly promoted side Barueri continues to surprise in the Brasileirão. Barueri defeated Libertadores semifinalists Cruzeiro 4-2 on the road in Belo Horizonte. Pedrão's double led Barueri to the win and vaulted Pedrão to the top of the goal scoring table as Barueri ascended to a surprising 7th place spot.

Corinthians defeated São Paulo 3-1 in a battle of Paulista rivals. São Paulo's 1st match without Muricy Ramalho was a disaster as O Timão ran their rivals all off the pitch. The victory moved Corinthians to 5th place in the standings.
