Atlético Huila padded their lead atop the standings in the Colombian Finalización tournament beating Envigado 3-2 at the Guillermo Plazas Alcid in the city of Neiva. Germán Córdoba scored a brace and Nicolás Ayr scored the eventual game-winner for Huila. The win was the fifth consecutive home with the Opitas.
Atlético Nacional continues to stay in pursuit of the Huila after they drew against Tolima at the Atanasio Girardot. Giovanny Moreno scored a brace for the Verdolagas, but that would not be enough as the Piajos would earn points visitng to the capital of Antioquia for a second consecutive time, but Nacional's unbeaten streak extends to ten.
The marquee matchup of the day would take place in city of Cali as the city's derby would take place. Deportivo Cali continued on their four-match winning streak at home by coming back from a 2-1 deficit playing at ¨home¨ against cross-town rival América. The Azucareros scored the game-winner courtesy of penalty kick by Juan Carlos Mariño. América took the lead towards teh end of the first half when Donald Millán and Adrián Ramos helped the Red Devils take the lead right before heading to the dressing room. Duver Riascos would equalize early in the second half and that would set the stage for Mariño's heroics from the penalty spot.
Millonarios were able to end an 18-year hex at the Estadio General Santander in Cúcuta by winning 1-0 courtesy of a Carmelo Valencia strike.
Nacional extended their unbeaten streak to ten matches, but were not able to earn the three points against Deportes Tolima.
One of the most exciting matches of the weekend took place in Bogota as Santa Fe were able to beat Independiente Medellín at El Campín on Saturday night. It was an explosive match that saw various opportunites on as well as some brilliant scores that hit the back of the net. Colombian international John Javier Resptrepo opened the scoring for El Poderoso with a powerful shot from outside. Argentine Omar Pérez equalized with a shot of his own whre he would make his own space and beat Paraguayan international Aldo Bobadilla who was the man of the match up to that point. Then Mario Gómez would break a long scoring drought by chipping a ball that bounced around inside the box. The ball found him and he was able to chip the ball over Bobadilla and seal the match for the local side.
