Had the honor to interview one of the greatest players in Colombian football and MLS history. Carlos Valderrama was a genius on the pitch and has remained active with the game in the past few years. His track record speaks for itself and that alone has been able to place him among the most recognizable faces and players in the world.

These days he continues to spread the gospel of the Beautiful Game throughout the various promotions all over the world. The former captain and posterboy of Colombian football was in South Florida promoting the Llamado del Gol promotion for T-Mobile in one of the stores located in in Palmetto Bay.

Valderrama's relevance remains as a lady, in her mid 30's shook with excitement at the sight of seeing him outside through a window. When she came in and Carlos was willing and able to take a picture with her three boys, her excitement level was so high that she wasn't able to open up the camera she had around her neck.

There were stories like Hernán Guzmán, a Colombian expat who was working at the event that got to meet Valderrama. "For me it was a dream come true. It's ironic that I got to meet (Valderrama) abroad."



"I see the game growing very quickly here," said Valderrama. If you compare it to the days when I was playing, the game has grown incredibly. "Especially having a person like (Luis Carlos Perea) in charge over at the Boca academy. The future looks very bright for football here in Miami."

Valderrama will be making his way to South Africa in the coming days to help promote several events in the country. "I truly hope that the Latin teams do well in the World Cup. I really hope that one of our teams wins it." His top candidates are Brazil, Argentina, as well as Spain and England.

Valderrama also mentioned that the domestic league is on the right track and that the national team needs to look at development. "The league is fine," says "El Pibe".
