Lars Lagerback, the experienced Swedish coach has announced the 30-man world cup list today; the surprise is the inclusion of veteran striker Nwanko Kanu; who has not had good performances in the already relegated Portsmouth.
Within the 30-man list, 11 are forwards and only 2 are players that participate in the local league.
Nigeria will share the group B of the World Cup with Argentina, Greece and South Korea. In 1996 the “Black eagles” upset Argentina in the Olympic games of Atlanta, a coincidence, Kanu was part of that squad.
