AFA plans to introduce a new competition starting 2011, "La Copa Argentina", plans to emulate other leagues around the world, where teams from all divisions compete in a cup tournament, similar to La Copa del Rey.

There are several reasons behind the creation of this new tournament, probably the most important ones lie behind a economical benefit for the league.

The first reason is allow players to get used to playing more than 1 game a week, sometimes three, so that when they are transferred to Europe they don't have to get used to the intensity. The second reason, is to give substitutes valuable time in the field, to showcase younger players.

Details are yet to be worked out, but its a very good thing for those who love to watch football everyday.
