Barcelona elections are on June 13th and I speak to one of the leasing candidates for the office in Sandro Rosell. In part two of my interview with Mr. Rosell, he talked about the what he plans to do at FC Barcelona as far as the football team is concerned.
Does Barca continue their unique model or start to deviate in an effort to continue to be the top team in Spain and regain the throne as the best team in the world?

CHECK OUT PART ONE

JUAN ARANGO: The Million dollar question…What do you plan on doing to maintain the arm-wrestle with Real Madrid?

SR: Being able to conserve or increase our athletic lead over Real Madrid in the last few years is a very important motivation. For every Cule.
I believe that Barca has a very solid and defined model model to support a long term winning ambition; trusting the youth divisions, the support of the formidable social mass, a very different style of management, and trusting the coaches we have at home…

But we must work hard to take that good position into the social and economic aspects as well. Those are the two great challenges we will have, and I want to make them a priority.

JA: What is your plan to maintain Pep Guardiola in his position as coach, not just for the next two to three years, but in long term?

SR: Pep Guardiola, has already given his word that he will continue in the club, at least for one more year and always with the approval of the current elected president. And in case I am elected, I can assure you he will have my approval. And it is my desire to have him remain in that role with the club, for at least 6 years, time that my term should last.
Guardiola will have a determining role in the proposal and election of new signings.

Our intention is to sit down with him immediately and discuss the current situation of the squad, lining up the priorities for the next season. For the success of the long term relationship, I want to establish clear rules to generate confidence and respect.

JA: Sandro, I would like to hear you vision on the Rosell administration when it comes to signings.

SR: First, signings need to be discussed with the coach and with the objective of covering the needs in determined positions. After, we want to act with criteria, patience and a method that avoids inflation on prices, modeling a responsible economic policy. Under no circumstances, we will sign a player without it adjusting to the needs of the club.

Also, establish the fact that the bases of the club will come from the youth divisions, and signings will serve the purpose of filling those exceptional needs and adding a plus to the squad. Barca will always have some of the best players in the world.

JA: What do you plan on doing to maintain the youth divisions of the club as a model and envy for the rest of the world?

SR: The main objective will be to identify the future promises and assure that they are comfortable in Barcelona. The well being of a football player is a key factor for them to feel identified with the club and its values, as well as facilitating them a permanent and fluid contact with their family and sorroundings. Also transmitting them that they have an open door of opportunities for the future.

The human component, constant dialog with the coach, personalized attention and a development plan designed specifically for each play player, are just some of the determining factors to strengthen the youth divisions in a long term process.
When it comes to talent seeking, and new additions to La Masia, we will never stop looking for the best promises around the world.

JA:Fernando Torres? Cesc Fabrefas or Andriy Arshavin? What are some of the possible signing. Will they be specific players or based upon a position needed?

SR: The development and consolidation of the squad must be evaluated under the leadership of the coach, to assess with him the priorities and the profiles of players that we wish to include in our team. Those players mentioned previously are all great professionals, with recognized prestige but we will not name anyone specifically until we speak with Pep Guardiola and the coaching staff.
